‘Brave the shave’ for Macmillan Cancer Support

by

Kim Bailes

Kim Bailes from local estate agents Reeds Rains Blyth is ‘braving the shave’ for Macmillan Cancer and will be standing proudly alongside men and women with cancer as she has her head shaved on Sunday 30th August 2015 to raise money for this worthy cause.

Kim will be braving the shave at Olivers Wine Bar, 60 Bridge St, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 2AP at 4.00pm

‘Brave the shave’ is an event which has been set up by Macmillan Cancer Support to help men and women who face cancer.

Men and women with cancer go through hair loss and changes to their appearance that can affect everything from the way they look, to how they feel. Macmillan is available from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, providing people the energy and inspiration to take back control of their life.

Kim Bailes says: “I will be joining the thousands of people courageous enough to ‘Brave the Shave’ and help change the lives of people with cancer. It’s fun, it’s bold, and it’s for a really important cause.

I want to help raise as much money as I can to make sure that everyone with cancer and their loved ones get the support they need.”

If you would like to donate to Kim’s Brave the Shave fund before the big day on Sunday 30th August 2015 visit her fundraising website at https://bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/kim-bailes/

Acomb Primary School based in York have hosted their Christmas fair which brought together families and the Acomb community to start the festive period which included games, mince pies, tombola, cake sale and a visit from Santa.

Local estate and lettings agent Reeds Rains supported the event and hosted a game at the fair which involved guessing which door Santa was hiding behind.

Andy Jacques Branch Manager for Reeds Rains in Acomb says: “We asked Acomb Primary school to help us by decorating the game and they did a great job. The board of houses looked fantastic and we provided prizes for the lucky winners.

The event was hugely successful and it was great to see the Acomb community come together to support it. There are always fun activities taking place in Acomb and supporting the local community is something we are passionate about.”

Elsewhere in Acomb, Reeds Rains also work closely with the Acomb Cricket Club by officially sponsoring their kit and their ‘Player of the Month awards’ which is also part of their drive to build greater links with the Acomb community.

First Captain Andy Tute from Acomb Cricket Club adds: “We value the support Reeds Rains provides and it is great to have them alongside us. We have been promoted from Division 1 of the York & District Senior League into the Premier Division and with Reeds Rains support we will continue to be successful.”

Research shows that 150,000 children in Manchester are living in poverty and will not be expecting a visit from Santa this year, and it’s because of this that local estate and lettings agents, Reeds Rains, are encouraging people to visit their branch with a gift to help make Christmas special for these disadvantaged children. (*)

The appeal called Mission for Christmas – Cash for kids is the brain child of radio station Key103 and aims to raise £1 million worth of toys suitable for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers aged 0 to 18 years. Reeds Rains is supporting the appeal by providing drop off points for people to make donations from 21of their branch locations around Manchester.

Regional Operations Manager Steven Cooke explains: “Mission Christmas – Cash for kids is a hugely popular event in Manchester which has a lot of support from local people. We are encouraging people in Manchester to buy an extra gift to help make this Christmas happy for local sick and disadvantaged kids. The mission is to make a happy Christmas for all children.

Reeds Rains are providing a selection of drop off points to help make it easier for people in Manchester to make sure their gift is delivered with a number of our branches taking part.

Eloise donates hair to make wonderful wig

by

BRAVE... Eloise Jefferies

The generosity of one brave youngster has raised hundreds for children's cancer charity The little Princess Trust. Eight year old Eloise Jefferies had 15 inches of hair cut which she donated to make a wig for the Little Princess Trust.

Reeds Rains Estate Agents in Bedworth has supported Eloise by making donations and provided the venue where she had her luscious golden locks chopped off in front of family and friends.

Eloise’s dad, Phil Jefferies, Branch Manager at Reeds Rains in Bedworth, said: "We are very proud of her; she came up with the hair cut by herself, after hearing about it from a friend at school. She is chuffed she has been able to donate the hair to the charity, but she was a bit nervous at first as she had to have eight or nine inches cut off. She looks totally different and a lot older.”

The majority of the money was donated by friends, family and Reeds Rains staff who raised around £400 for the charity which will also help pay for the creation of more hair pieces.
