2.6% rise for house prices in the East Midlands

East Midlands house prices performed strongly in April 2018 according to the LSL House Price Index, up 2.6% compared to last year.
The average house price for the region in April was £211,839.
The East Midlands was the only region in England & Wales to see annual price increases in all its unitary authority areas, led by Rutland (up 9.3%), Northamptonshire (4.1%) and Leicestershire (up 3.4% with a new house average house price peak of £244,633).
The average house price in England and Wales was up more than £6,000 in May compared to 2017. The average house price for May 2018 was recorded as £305,654.
Meanwhile, transactions were down by 6% year on year.
