Celebrate Father’s Day with dad’s shed

Father's Day is a festival which started in the early 20th century to honour fathers. To join in the celebrations, Reeds Rains has been thinking about Dads and their sheds.

We carried out a survey to find out the common uses for these outdoor spaces and whether these are a popular dwelling place. The results show 64% of people surveyed have a shed/outbuilding, but 89% only use the extra space for storage as Dads tend to use shed/outbuildings as their space.*

The research also reveals that money conscious shed owners spend less than £50 a year maintaining their shed/outhouse with the odd bit of paint and a few plants to keep it looking fresh.*

What could be done to transform this into a valuable, usable space?

Reeds Rains is highlighting the following properties which make creative use of additional space to provide some inspiration for people who want to transform their area into something a bit more exciting.

Home GYM

Ideal for first time buyers or the keep fit Dads on Father’s Day. This lovely home has been decorated in a modern style throughout and is complete with a high gloss kitchen and trendy three piece bathroom. The property has both gas central heating and UPVC double glazing.

There is a driveway for off road parking and to the rear, a large summer house that offers flexible accommodation which is currently used as a gym.

Build a workshop

Dad, spend more than £50 and turn your shed into a workshop and a business. This versatile commercial property of traditional construction is presently divided into three principle areas with large workshop, two store rooms and WC facilities. Included in the sale are two self-contained flats which are currently tenanted and generates an annual rental income of £7,848.
To the front of the premises is a tarmac car park allowing parking for several vehicles.

Relax in a home cinema
A home cinema is the ideal place for Dad to relax on Father’s Day. This property not only has a cinema room but also private enclosed gardens, an indoor swimming pool and five garages. Other reasons to view this property include the self-contained annex, five double bedrooms, three en-suites and the convenient location with easy access to amenities.
