So, tomorrow is the 1st of December, marking the beginning of the countdown to Christmas! If you have left it too late to pick up a chocolate advent calendar for the children (or maybe yourself) then take a look at these alternative advent calendar ideas.
We love this idea – all you need is a bit of wrapping paper, some tags, a bucket and 24 gifts. These could be chocolates or anything you fancy. Simply wrap up the gifts, add a tag with the date and pop in the bucket.
This is a great way to make advent more interactive, each day the children will receive a clue to where they can find their treat.
An activity a day
A great alternative to chocolate, each day offers the opportunity for a new activity. For example, write a letter to Santa, go shopping for a new decoration, watch a Christmas movie – the list is endless and children will love the excitement and build up.
An advent jar
Fill a jar with 24 sweets, one for each day – you could even make a cute label, add some ribbon and personalise the jar.
