Wigan is a town in Lancashire which is positioned on the River Douglas, and is centrally located to Manchester and Liverpool city centres. This is great for commuters to all major cities in the UK as it is located on the main rail line to London. During the industrial revolution, Wigan experienced an economic expansion and a rapid rise in the population. Wigan then became known as a major mill town and coal mining district.
