5 ways you can add life to your garden

Posted 16/02/2019 by Reeds Rains

Over the winter months, it’s easy for your garden to end up looking a bit drab. After all, the poor weather will have an impact and if you aren’t tending regularly it’s easy for it to look a bit down in the dumps. Our friends at Sloane & Sons are giving you the chance to win a brand-new bench for your garden and have shared their five top tips to get your garden looking up to scratch.

Repaint the fence

We are all guilty of not taking care of the fence in our garden. We might paint it or fit the fence when we first move in but then we don’t tend to touch it again for years. Over time the weather will have an impact so it is important to regularly check, clean and protect your fence if necessary. You could also paint your fence to add some life to your garden. Instead of going for the traditional brown shades why not add some blue or grey shades to give your garden the wow factor and stand out from the crowd.

Add a water feature

You can also add some character to your garden by adding a water feature. Not only will it attract wildlife, but it will also be a relaxing feature which will be perfect for those chilled out summer days. A fountain is a great addition and can create sound and movement in your garden .Or if your gardens on the smaller side, a bird table will not only bring more birds to the garden but will add character and beauty to your outdoor space.

Invest in new furniture

A lot of us don’t spend much time in our garden due to the lack of seating. It means we don’t utilise the garden as much as we should. A great way to bring more life to your outdoor space is by investing in some new tasteful furniture. A new set of table and chairs will mean you can eat alfresco and can enjoy time outside with family and friends. You could even get a new bench from Sloane & Sons Garden Benches which will give you extra seating in your garden for entertaining guests. It means you can enjoy your morning coffee or even spend some time with a good book in your garden.

Plant, plant, plant

Another way you can bring some life and colour to your garden is if by adding some beautiful flowers. Bright flowers can brighten up a shady area and can add colour and fragrance to your outdoor space. You could also think about pairing your flowers with some colourful pots to really make them stand out. Flowers come in all different shapes and sizes so you should take a visit to your local garden centre or research online to get some inspiration and find out the best time of year to plant your garden favourites.

Add an area for entertaining guests

A lot of us don’t make the most of our garden for entertaining. We tend to cook in the kitchen and serve in the dining area. Why not add an entertaining area in your garden so that you make use of the outdoors and entertaining guests. A BBQ or a pizza oven will mean plenty of fun alfresco dining. You could even compliment your garden with the perfect hot tub. As well as your family using it during those summer days, it will be popular when friends and family come to visit too.
