Reeds Rains support Mission Christmas – Cash for Kids

Research shows that 40,000 children in Lancashire are living in poverty and will not be expecting a visit from Santa this year, and it’s because of this that local estate and lettings agents, Reeds Rains Preston, is encouraging people to visit their branch located at 80 Fishergate, Preston, PR1 2UH with a gift to help make Christmas special for these disadvantaged children. *

The appeal, called Mission Christmas – Cash for Kids raised over £10.5 million in gifts and cash, and helped over 310,000 children in local communities across the UK during 2014, a 19% increase on the previous year. **

Nikki Lindsay, branch manager for Reeds Rains Preston explains: “Mission Christmas – Cash for Kids concentrates on people donating a gift or cash for a local child who would otherwise go without at Christmas. Social services and other agencies identify the children most at need, many of whom are in care homes and refuges.

This is a hugely popular event which has a lot of support from local people. We are encouraging people in Preston to buy an extra gift to help make this Christmas happy for sick and disadvantaged kids and then bring them along to our office in Preston. We’ll then work with Mission Christmas to ensure a happy Christmas for all children locally.”

Clare Traynor Charity Executive, Cash for Kids says: “We are absolutely thrilled that Reeds Rains wants to support Cash for Kids with Mission Christmas. Last year we helped almost 8,500 children and young people in Lancashire to have a better Christmas and we know it will be even more this year. Mission Christmas depends heavily on volunteers and without people supporting the campaign we wouldn’t be able to provide gifts to the children and young people who need them most. Each year the people of Lancashire unite by supporting our gift appeal and the results are truly overwhelming. We are incredibly grateful for your support.”
