Selling in Summer

The temperatures are rising, ice cream vans are out in full force, and buyers are considering their next move.

The schools will be breaking up for summer in a matter of weeks, and each year we find homeowners and first time buyers alike are ready for a fresh start.

Securing a new home, and selling your current property if required, is one of those goals that can be put off indefinitely due to the busyness of day-to-day life, and we aren't surprised.

At Reeds Rains our motivated local experts are eager to help make your move stress-free, and summer is a great time to be starting your property journey.

The market is heating up for summer

Expectations had been low for buyer activity following the end of the Stamp Duty holiday in April, but the latest from Rightmove suggest otherwise.

May was the strongest month for sales agreed in over 3 years, up 6% on this time last year. Plus, buyer demand is also up 3% from last year.

And there's good news for buyers too: The volume of properties coming onto the market is ahead 11% on this time last year, meaning you'll have more properties to choose from for your next home.

Time is of the essence

When listing your property for sale you only have one chance to make a good first impression, so showcasing your home in the best light possible is essential.

Naturally the brighter and sunnier months provide the opportune time for photography. Gardens are in full bloom and there's plentiful natural light to make your home shine.

It's worth doing some gardening, cleaning patios and making your outdoor spaces more appealing to take advantage of the time of year, as well as the rest of your home too.

Moving home requires quite a bit of work, which Reeds Rains are here to help with, and it's almost certain you'll have multiple full days of packing and moving.

That's where the longer and brighter days of summer can come in handy, as if you need to pack or move in the evening they'll still be daylight to make the experience more convenient.
