Northwich is a town in Cheshire West and Chester. It lies in the heart of the Cheshire Plain, at the meeting of the rivers Weaver and Dane. According to the Sunday Times in 2014, Northwich has been named as one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom. Since the Roman times, the area around Northwich has been exploited for its salt pans.
