The friendly market town of Leyland combines its history with a vibrant town surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is best known for Leyland motors, founded in 1895, once the 5th largest producer of trucks and buses in the world. The town is now a commuter village with easy access to the Preston, Manchester and Liverpool. Leyland was also recently voted one of the top ten friendliest places to live in Britain. Many people stay in Leyland their whole lives. Others move here due to the fantastic motorway and transport links that the town provides. The schools have good reputations and major cities such as Preston, Liverpool and Manchester are easily accessible.

The market in Leyland is quite buoyant and the old saying 'if it is priced right and marketed correctly it will sell' is true most of the time. Prices range from £50,000 to over £500,000 meaning that there really is something to suit everyone from the first time buyer to the retired pensioner.

The town of Leyland has a range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the famous market itself which is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and has a large range of stalls. There are a good variety of dining options to suit all tastes with Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants as well as the Leyland Lion which is our local Wetherspoons offering great value for money. Preston is a 10 minute drive away where more high street stores can be found and the railway station at Leyland means a day’s shopping in Manchester or Liverpool is quite straight forward.

Leyland is very proud of its cricket team which was founded back in 1848. They have 5 senior teams as well as junior teams which run from under 9's to under 17s. There is also football, netball and hockey teams available for all ages to get involved with. Bolton Wanderers under 21's play some of their fixtures at the Lancashire FA ground in Leyland city centre and is always good for a bit of people spotting with many famous current and former footballers attending. Leyland hosts a yearly festival, provides access to the commercial vehicle museum and has amateur dramatics groups such as the St. Ambrose Players who are always looking for new members.
